39-year-old also sent abusive messages
DAD Paul Walker strangled his ex-partner and sent her abusive messages during a campaign of harassment.
The 39-year-old grabbed his victim by her throat leaving her with reddening around her neck.
He was bailed but breached the conditions by sending her messages and visiting her home, under the pretence of wanting to see his children. Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard his victim was left feeling petrified.
Now Walker has been sentenced to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years. Prosecutor Antony Longworth said the defendant and his victim had been in a relationship and have three children together. She also has an older child who is not Walker's.
The relationship ended and she took out a non-molestation order which was due to end last October, which was causing her concern. Mr Longworth said on October 27 the victim collected the children and went to his house as their relationship was at that time amicable.
