Williams boss seeks return to glory days

WILLIAMS team principal James Vowles is not concerned about short-term results as he focuses on the path towards returning the team to championship success.

The British team have won the constructors' championship nine times - second only to Ferrari - but their last success was back in 1997.

In that time, the team have often struggled towards the back of the grid and Vowles has spoken in the past of having to rebuild every element.

They have started the season well, bolstered by the signing of Carlos Sainz from Ferrari, and have more points after four races than they had in the whole of last season.

But Vowles says he will not dwell on results, positive or not, as he looks at the bigger picture of returning Williams to title contention.

"If you want to win, there is only one way to win and you can't get caught in the now," Vowles said at this weekend's Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
