Villa loanee desperate to help Vale climb League One table as crunch Plymouth clash looming

- Clive Youlton

GOALKEEPER Joe Gauci has excelled in goal for Port Vale and is desperate to help the club climb up the League One table.

‘The Aston Villa loanee is enjoying life at Vale Park having kept Ben Amos out of the league side while taking Marko Marosi out of the scene because of his strong showing.

The 25-year-old Gauci has made a string of important saves for Vale in recent weeks and will need to be at his best again tomorrow to keep Lorent Tolaj and Plymouth Argyle at bay.

Today’s clash is a crunch one at the foot of the table and Vale will most likely remain in the bottom four whatever the outcome.

It’ a big game but Gauci reckoned in his pre-match press conference:

“Every game is big for me. I've said that every time I step on the field it’s a massive opportunity for myself to experience different things, to express myself and take on the challenges, individually and as a team.
