WOUTER Burger is treating Stoke City’s trip to Cardiff like a cup final as they look for a win which would be a big step towards Championship safety.

'We're running out of games and need a win'

Stoke head to South Wales for a second successive game against a team in the bottom three, determined to bounce back after letting in an injury time goal to only draw with Luton Town on Tuesday night.

The Potters are two points clear of Cardiff before kick-off, four ahead of Luton and seven clear of Plymouth.

They are two ahead of Derby too while Hull, Oxford, Portsmouth and QPR are in their sights in the other direction.

Burger said: “It’s a (cup) final at Cardiff. We know what's at stake. We're running out of games and we need a result. Nothing else.”

He added: “It was a hard game to play on Tuesday. We tried to put something against their playing style.
