Super Syed delivers to net emphatic win for Burslem
The Sentinel
|May 14, 2025
BURSLEM seconds are leading the way in NSSCL Division Four after thrashing Silverdale 2nd XI.
Syed Haider Bukhari was the star of the show for the table-toppers as they banked a third straight win.
He claimed 7-16, which included a hat-trick and four wickets in an over, as Silverdale were routed for just 40.
They were 11-8 at one point before Chris Brookes (13) and Ben Stokes (12) offered some sort of resistance.
It took Burslem just 8.1 overs to wrap up a nine-wicket triumph as Ash Porter compiled 27 not out and Darren Hof finished unbeaten on 13.
Alsager seconds secured their maiden win of the league campaign and in the process ended Audlem's 100 per cent start.
Half-centuries from Hassan Haleem and Paul Pickford set the tone for Alsager to race to 266-6 from their 40 overs.
Haleem hit 11 fours and one six in his 77, while Pickford's 76 contained 10 boundaries and one maximum.
Kevin Leigh (29) and Bill Strong (27) also impressed, with Simon Swift (3-64) taking the bowling honours for Audlem.
Dave Blatherwick replied with 22, but Audlem's hopes of extending their fine start were all-but over when they slumped to 94-8.
