Kettleborough wants his players to ensure weekend performance is template for rest of season

- Chris Travers

'STAFFS HAVE SET STANDARD'

JAMES Kettleborough wants Staffordshire's Super Sunday at Nantwich to be the norm for the rest of the summer.

Staffs gave their NCCA Twenty20 Cup qualification hopes a huge boost by winning both matches against Cheshire to jump to the top of Group One.

It was the county's best day of the summer so far, especially after disappointing in the Knockout Trophy, which saw them fail to advance from their group for the third successive year.

Staffordshire had then won one and lost one on the day against both Northumberland and Shropshire in the opening rounds of the short form.

The double success against Cheshire has left Staffordshire in a healthy position ahead of their final group games against Cumbria at Wolverhampton on July 6.

And skipper Kettleborough wants to take the feel-good factor into the rest of the T20 competition and the three-day format beyond that.

"I felt that we were threatening to do that (back-to-back wins) in the first couple of days in the T20s," said Kettleborough.

"We managed to put it together and it was a really positive day for us.
