Smith's five-star performance puts Endon on course for easy win

STEVE Smith produced a remarkable bowling performance in Endon seconds’ victory at Stafford thirds in NSSCL Division Six.

Smith needed just 14 balls to finish with figures of 5-0 to send Stafford sliding to 41 all out at the weekend.

Ronnie Jones lent a helping hand with 3-18, while Jason Baker’s 21 was the only meaningful contribution to the Stafford cause.

Endon then romped to a 10-wicket win inside five overs as Jimmy Scarratt compiled 24 not out and Smith followed up his bowling heroics with an unbeaten 19.

Oakamoor thirds were handily placed on 197-4 from 34.1 overs at Blythe seconds before the match was abandoned.

Half-centuries from Andrew Booth and Jacob Fullick had helped Oakamoor to a healthy-looking total when the heaven opened.

Booth hit six fours in an unbeaten 57, while Fullick’s 50 included nine boundaries.
