Record rate for jabs team providing 'vital protection for both mother and baby'

HOSPITAL managers have achieved their highest-ever monthly maternity vaccination uptake - with record numbers of pregnant women receiving potentially lifesaving protection for themselves and their babies during September.

The Maternity Vaccination Service, which has been running for two years, delivered 377 whooping cough vaccines, 291 respiratory syncytial virus (RSV vaccines) and 927 flu vaccines across its four sites making it the best month on record for the trust that runs hospital services in North Staffordshire.

A team of seven nurse maternity vaccinators provide vaccinations at the Royal Stoke University Hospital’s Antenatal Clinic, County Hospital’s Women’s Health Centre in Stafford, and community clinics at Bradwell Community Hospital and Bentilee Health Centre.
