Rain fails to stop Silverdale as they take points on road
The Sentinel
|June 10, 2025
SILVERDALE displayed some Twenty20 form to take the points at Porthill Park seconds in NSSCL Division One.
It was the first weekend of red-ball matches, but the poor weather meant that the clash at the Old County Ground was reduced to 10 overs per side.
And it was Silverdale who rose to the occasion to walk away with an eight-wicket triumph.
Porthill Park managed to make their way to 126-7 from their allocation, fronted by Connor Uren's 52.
Tom Mason weighed in with 26, while Toby Degg, Matthew Moore and Ethan Sherriff all claimed two wickets.
Silverdale timed their run chase to perfection as they crossed the line with five balls remaining.
Openers Omar Ali and Joshua Rhodes were in control of the chase as they chipped in with 53 not out and 49 respectively.
Adeel Khalid picked up both of the wickets to fall.
Stafford cruised to a comfortable victory at bottom-of-the-table Checkley 2nd XI.
The county town visitors took first use at Four Trees and they piled up 229-4 declared.
Guy Seaton top-scored with 78, an innings which contained eight fours and one six.
Matthew Turner and Gihan Maligaspe Koralage both added 52. Turner's knock featured seven boundaries, with Koralage's innings including four fours and three maximums.
