Katie and Ellie set up in old home improvement store
A MUM has teamed up with her daughter to fulfill a long-held dream of running her own café.
Kate's, in the Smithfield Centre, Leek, serves up a wholesome menu of comforting classics, affordable prices and partnerships with creatives.
Owner Katie Hammond, of Parkhall, said: "It had always been a dream of mine to open a business, and I thought why not?
"I've got three children and I love making tasty home-cooked meals, so I wanted to kick-start a venture where that can shine through. It was a home improvement shop before, so it's undergone a real transformation.
"It's been brilliant so far. Me and my daughter, Ellie, have been loving it. We just want it to be a place where people can relax with a nice meal. I'm a friendly and approachable person, so I want people from all walks of life to come in and enjoy themselves."
