Richard treated for heart attack at Royal Stoke

- Yasmin Sarwar

A PATIENT discharged from hospital three days after a heart attack is calling for better aftercare.

Richard Braithwaite says he was sent home from the Royal Stoke University Hospital with a catalogue of medication.

But he then had to call the Royal Stoke for clarification regarding his medication and is calling for a Royal Stoke hub for discharged patients to get advice.

The 55-year-old had suspected he was suffering a heart attack when he woke up at his Silverdale home.

He said: "I had a burning sensation in my chest and thought it was indigestion so I went to get dressed to go downstairs.

"I looked in the mirror and I looked grey, then I started to sweat and felt clammy and I knew the signs of a heart attack, but you don't believe it or think it'll happen to you, so I went downstairs and took Gaviscon and sat on the sofa.
