Sounds of Shelleys and Hacienda to feature in DJ Daba’s eighth fundraising event
RENAL patient Mark Davis is staging a fundraising event for a charity close to his heart.
The 54-year-old was rushed to hospital in 2008 as he was critically unwell. A biopsy on one of his kidneys found he suffers with the autoimmune disease IGA nephropathy, which caused both his kidneys to fail.
He spent the next threeand-a-half years on dialysis attending the Royal Stoke University Hospital three times every week, with each session lasting more than four hours.
Mark, of Wolstanton, was extremely fortunate that his ex-fiance Claire Ash, now aged 53, made the ‘incredibly selfless decision’ to donate one of her kidneys to him, with the transplant taking place at the end of January 2012 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
