STOKE-ON-TRENT now has a 'front door we can be proud of' following a multi-million pound investment at Stoke Station, council leaders say.

The project to transform Station Road in Stoke has finally been completed after two years of roadworks, funded by Stoke-on-Trent's £29 million award from the Transforming Cities Fund (TCF).

Civic leaders gathered outside the station for a ceremony marking the official end of the project.

The work has included realigning Station Road to create a larger pedestrian area in front of the station, with the statue of Josiah Wedgwood moved from across the road.

A bus gate has been installed in Winton Square, barring most through traffic, while the bus stops and drop-off parking area have been relocated.

The stops now feature real-time information displays and longer shelters.

Council leaders say as well as making the station area more attractive, it is now easier to get to and from the station via public transport, active travel or by car.
