Killer remanded-in custody until October

KILLER driver Leon Salt left a pedestrian for dead on a city road - after hitting him while speeding past another car.

Now the 21-year-old is waiting to find out his fate after the fatal collision in Penkhull.

As previously reported by The Sentinel, emergency services had been scrambled to Newcastle Lane on April 11 this year with the road taped off. Sadly 51-year-old Christopher Deaville, who lived in Penkhull, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident detectives revealed how they had found a 'badly-damaged' black Mini abandoned in an alleyway off Birks Street in Stoke. That car, which was on false plates, had reportedly been stolen from Stafford just days before the fatal hit-and-run.
