Jennings opts to step down as captain of the Red Rose

FORMER England batter Keaton Jennings has resigned as Lancashire captain, with the club sitting rock bottom of the Rothesay County Championship.

The Red Rose were relegated from Division One last season but were strongly fancied to win promotion this term. Instead, they have failed to win any of their first five games and sit at the foot of the standings with 50 points.
Australian Marcus Harris, who tops the Division Two run charts with 749 despite his side’s struggles, will take over as interim captain.
Vice-captain Josh Bohannon will support and there is also likely to be a key role for James Anderson, who is expected to make his long-awaited comeback this week.
