IT 'lifeline' as £100k of tech gets a Reboot

Firm repurposes organisations' old kit

USED IT equipment worth £100k is being brought back to life in a bid to bridge the digital divide in North Staffordshire.

Reboot IT For All - a community interest company - received significant donations of old and unwanted IT equipment from both the public and private sectors.

Their data will be wiped, and they will be refurbished where needed and passed on to disadvantaged groups, charities, and schools that would not ordinarily have access to all the IT they need.

Recent devices received include:

■ 40 laptops from the Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust;

■ 60 tower PCs from a cyber-security firm;

■ 300 webcams from Staffordshire Police;

■ 100 keyboards and mice from the University Hospitals of North Midlands.

Ten of the laptops have already been donated to the YMCA in Hanley.
