It is a 'nightmare' for neighbours as street shuts for water work
The Sentinel
|September 15, 2025
FAMILIES living on a road blocked off to traffic while Severn Trent install new water pipes have criticised the disruption being caused to their lives.
Turner Street in Birches Head, is closed while Severn Trent carries out the work. It means residents cannot park outside their homes.
Homeowners have also complained about noise and dust created by the work and have questioned why it was necessary to block off both sides of the road.
Carl Hocknell, aged 68, said: "It has been going on for a month. Residents must be parking all over the city. It is creating a lot of dust.
"It has messed the windows up. It has been a nightmare. I will be glad when it is all over. We have got to put up with it. It will be worth it in the end. It is better having it done now than in winter."
Gillian Davies, aged 62, above, said: "It feels like forever. I have not got a car but I do have a friend who usually takes me to work. I have had to go around the corner and carry all my shopping up the street.
