Hussain is star of the show as Barlaston bank new win
The Sentinel
|June 03, 2025
FIDA Hussain turned in a man-of-the-the-match performance to guide Barlaston to a fifth NSSCL Division One of the season with victory over Moddershall & Oulton seconds.
The latest success leaves Barlaston joint-top of the table with Cheadle 2nd XI - and Hussain was at the forefront of another 21-point haul.
Hussain starred with the bat first of all as he compiled an unbeaten 113 to form the backbone of the home side’s 215-5 from their 40 overs.
His ton featured 12 fours and one six as he shared a second-wicket stand of 184 with Brian Sims.
Sims chipped in with 68, hitting eight boundaries in the process. Oliver Palmer claimed 4-32 for the Modd men.
In reply, Joe Mason (49) and Mitchell Kelsall (39) impressed as Moddershall & Oulton looked to overhaul that tough target.
However, Hussain was in sparkling form with the ball to take 4-35 as the visitors were dismissed for 167.
Ethan Squire captured 4-30 for Barlaston with the other two wickets being taken by Rory Jones.
High-flying Cheadle eased to another win as they triumphed by seven wickets in their home meeting with Sandbach.
Visitors Sandbach were bowled out for 135 in the early part of the contest, despite Jack Collett compiling a half-century.
Collett struck five fours and four sixes in his 69, with Ather Abid also making a start to reach 33.
