How upgrades to A50 could put city on road to £24m jobs boost

Newcastle could enjoy £11m benefit to its economy too, claims transport group
IMPROVEMENTS to parts of the A50 could result in a major boost to the economy with hundreds of jobs created, according to a new study.
A newly-released economic assessment points to the significant benefits that could be unlocked by A50 improvements at Uttoxeter and neighbouring junctions at Blythe Bridge and Sudbury.
It shows that if the upgrades are in place by 2031, a total of 2,192 jobs could be created, with 470 in Stoke-on-Trent, 520 in East Staffordshire, 194 in Newcastle, 151 in Staffordshire Moorlands and 241 in Stafford.
