Heneghan: Home point can be building block for Vale

BEN Heneghan says Port Vale’s players were “happy with the performance” after the 0-0 draw with Wycombe Wanderers.

Valiants supporters may not have taken many positives out of the display in a game where Wycombe should have come away with three points in the League One clash.

But the centre-back, who played his part in keeping the Vale goal intact, albeit that was primarily down to poor finishing, told Port Vale TV:

“It was like a kick-start so we can regroup. It was good to get a clean sheet and something to build on.” Doing the basics was key for Heneghan who added: “I made a couple of blocks myself, Cam [Humphreys] made a great block, Joey [Gauci] made saves so yes, it’s the basics and that’s what we are here to do.

“And what we’ve got to do and perform every game.
