Hancock: Valiants need everyone to stick together in the tough times

PORT Vale will continue to back manager Darren Moore to revive the club’s fortunes.

- Clive Youlton

That's the message from the club's chief executive Matt Hancock after he sat down with the club's media for his monthly update.

Some supporters have called for Moore to be sacked after the recent slump to the bottom of the League One table following seven league matches without a win.

Hancock admitted it's not an easy time but also that it’s not a time to make “emotional decisions” as they allow Moore, pictured below, to try to turn results around.

‘There was no mention of timescale in the interview but he said he was honouring his commitment to communicate with the fanbase.

“Sometimes we are communicating stuff the majority of supporters will agree with and sometimes things some supporters don't agree with, but ultimately we are sitting down at the end of the month and wanting to discuss where we are at and that is a commitment as a football club we are staying true to,” he told Port Vale TV.

“Look, are we frustrated that results aren’t where they need to be at the moment? Can we understand why there is so much frustration amongst a number of fans both in and outside the stadium at the moment? Absolutely.

“None of us want to be where we are in the league.

“Darren and the team are working day in, day out, to get us to where we think we should be, which is further up that league table. There is a lot of frustration in the club and a lot of frustration in the supporter base.”

Vale have set a new club record in not scoring in five consecutive league games, culminating in the damaging 1-0 home defeat to then bottom club Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.
