Go-ahead for 77 new homes

MULTI-MILLION pound plans for 77 council homes on brownfield land have been given the go-ahead.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council wants to build 57 flats and 20 houses on the cleared site in Booth Street, Stoke.

The £15 million scheme was unanimously approved by planners when they met yesterday.

According to the planning officer's report, the principle of development on the site is ‘acceptable’ with no significant adverse impacts identified.

The council has about 17,000 homes but there is a growing need for more social housing, with families facing longer waits to get a property.
