The Sentinel
|August 26, 2025
SANDYFORD highlighted why they're heading for success in NSSCL Division after thrashing Little Stoke.
The table-toppers routed fourth-placed Little Stoke for just 39 in their weekend meeting.
Gareth Kinsey led the way with 5-9, while Matthew Taylor picked up 3-16. The other two wickets were taken by Maz Akhtar.
Shazad Liaqat (3-16) struck three times on the resumption, but Kalhara Senarathne’s 16 not out saw Sandyford to a seven-wicket win.
Sandyford are two points clear of second-placed Crewe and now a huge 51 clear of Congleton, in third, who were beaten at Meakins 2nd XI.
Meakins took first use in that clash at Ivy House Road and made their way to 154 all out.
John Mugava top-scored with 29, with support being provided by Tas Hussain (26), Tariq Mughal (22) and Ben Bennett (18).
Eddie Henshall grabbed 4-39 for Congleton and there were two victims for Kevin Waterhouse.
Jake Wilshaw (45no) batted through in Congleton’s run chase, but although Lyndon Booth contributed 17, the visitors were bowled out for 105.
Mugava and Mughal finished with 3-7 and 3-33 respectively, with the other four wickets being scooped by Hussain and Tom Fox.
