Owner aims to 'give something back' to customers with cut-price deal
CUSTOMERS can bag a bargain this month as a fish and chip shop owner takes a stand against rising fish prices.
Hanley’s Loftus Fish Bar is selling mini fish and chips for £2.50 every Monday in June. Owner Serdar Besler, right and inset, says the cost of living crisis has made fish and chips unaffordable for many.
The 38-year-old said: “The industry is struggling to buy supplies. And now customers are struggling to buy the food. The cost of living crisis is having a real damaging effect.
“Lots of people can’t afford fish and chips like they could before, particularly the old age pensioners. Our regular customers still come in, but instead of buying five or six fish, they'll just get one or two. Energy costs, rent and fish prices are all going up, so it’s hard for people.”
