Checkley hit the heights to earn comfortable victory at Congleton

Checkley’s bowlers came to the fore in the early stages of the contest as they limited Congleton to 143-8 from their 40 overs.

Nick Hunt, pictured, grabbed 3-13 and there were a couple of wickets for Jack Lewis.

Toby Miller (40), Ryan Booth (29), Stefan Stubbs (20) and Simon Prime (15) made the most progress with the bat.

Checkley made light work of their target after the interval as they cruised to a nine-wicket success.

Lewis led the way with an unbeaten 54, which contained 10 fours, with Alex Bennett compiling 42 not out and Hunt adding 33.

Little Stoke thirds won by the same margin on their visit to Hanford 2nd XI.

Hanford were skittled for just 73 in the formative stages, in which J Hanmore made 34 and Z Ahmad chipped in with 13.

However, H Mountford and R Irving helped themselves to 4-19 and 3-6 respectively to put the visitors in the driving seat.

And they eased to the winning line in reply thanks to F Stone (30no), J Adams (26) and R Misra (13no).
