Checkley have lots of spare time after quickfire victory
The Sentinel
|September 10, 2025
CHECKLEY thirds were quick out of the blocks to bank an easy victory over Porthill Park fifths in NSSCL Division Seven.
Visitors Porthill Park were bundled out for a meagre 45 in Saturday's encounter, in which A Nelson made 20.
F Amos fronted the Checkley attack with 3-6, backed up by double strikes from C Cooper, N Hunt and J Lewis.
A Whiston's unbeaten 31 soon had Checkley celebrating an eight-wicket win.
Market Drayton remain top of the table following their three-wicket triumph at Audley thirds.
Audley posted 107 all out in the first half, which was largely thanks to Joseph Joshy's half-century.
Joshy hit seven fours and six sixes in a rapid 71, with Charles Birkin (18) the other batsman to make an impact.
Brad Evans scooped 3-8 for the table-toppers and there were two wickets apiece for Devon Fisher, Ben MacKeen and Cameron Smith.
Matthew Smith and Evans both made 15 early in Market Drayton's run chase, but Clint Thankachan's 6-6 left the outcome in the balance.
But Market Drayton found a way over the line with Fisher making 45 not out to seal the deal.
Crewe seconds eased to the points on their visit to Betley 2nd XI.
Frazier Hoye's 53, which contained three boundaries and four sixes, enabled Crewe to reach 219-9 from their 40 overs.
