'Challenge will be met by every one of us'

The Valiants boss was speaking ahead of the clash at Vale Park, the first of two big League One outings for the club who face bottom club Plymouth Argyle a week later.

He says some of his players have been in this position before and responded, and will do again.

He accepts that 15 points from 13 games is not good enough and wants to put that right.

“When you look at us 12 months ago, the form was very strong and ultimately it led us into the position we are in today,” he said, in a pre-match press conference.

“And this is football. At times you get real good times and it's excellent, then you also get, not bad times, but what I would call a low moment and we are certainly in a low moment.

“And we have to find a way, figure a way and be determined to do that. And look forward to the challenge that's ahead of us.”

He added: “There's a challenge ahead of us and it's going to be met by every single one of us. And sitting here as manager I get to communicate that to the watching support and overall football club.

Is cat parvo on the rise?

There's been talk where we live in the north of England of an upsurge of cases of a virus disease in cats called parvo. I thought this was a dog disease. Is this anything to worry about? Our two five-year-old cats were fully vaccinated as kittens but not since.
