Birch and Manning in fine touch for Woore

The visitors are believed to have set new divisional standards for both the biggest team score and the highest third-wicket partnership in their success.

Woore found themselves 39-2 on their road trip - both wickets falling to Jan Osgathorpe - but that was as good as the day got for hosts Meir Heath.

From that point, Woore’s Jamie Birch and Daniel Manning smashed centuries to lead their side to 330-2 from their 40 overs.

Birch walked off unbeaten 176, having hit 22 fours and eight sixes, while Manning batted through the innings to compile 105 not out, hitting 11 fours and one six in the process.

Luke Evans struck 35 not out in Meir Heath's reply, but they folded to 78 all out to slump to a heavy defeat - their second setback in a row.

Hayyan Khan and Helen Hughes picked up 4-24 and 3-9 respectively for the victors as they earned their first success.

Moddershall & Oulton fifths were also in prolific form to bank their maiden win at home against Stone SP thirds.

Saleem Mir’s 69 orchestrated the Modd men’s progress to 227-9 from their allocation.
