State Govt launches 10-day mega drive to enroll seniors aged 70-plus under Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana

IN a significant push towards universal health coverage for the elderly, the Odisha government is set to launch an intensive 10-day campaign starting June 12 to enroll all citizens aged 70 and above under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana (AVVY).
The mission-mode campaign, running through June 21, aims to cover the remaining 19.55 lakh beneficiaries out of the estimated 23 lakh elderly in the state. So far, only 3.45 lakh have been enrolled under the scheme, which offers Rs 5 lakh annual health coverage to every senior citizen regardless of income, caste, or prior inclusion in other health schemes.
