Contribution of the mining sector very significant in journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047: Dr. TK Chand

WITH the monetized value of minerals in India works out to around $1,000 Trillion, the mining sector will be a definite engine of growth and development in the journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047, said Dr Tapan Kumar Chand.

He said this while deliberating in the Sectoral Session on Mines, Minerals and Chemicals of the National Seminar organised by the Godavari Global University at Rajamahendran in Andhra Pradesh recently.

Stating that the current contribution of the mining sector to National GDP will increase manifold, DR Chand said, “Sustainable mining and value added minerals will be the process for compatible climate action. Scientific mining, Zero net mining, Zero waste mining, Zero discharge mining and circular economy are some of the innovative ways that the mining sector needs to adopt.” In his concluding remarks he said that mines and minerals are gifts of mother earth to be taken care of as trustees of future generations. We should conserve minerals and use only to the extent of our need, he said.
