PAYING tribute to the towering legacy of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday said that the state government's ongoing commitment to women empowerment, rural development, and good governance aligns with the visionary ideals of the 18th-century queen and social reformer.

Speaking at the 300th state-level birth anniversary celebration of Ahilyabai Holkar held at Jayadev Bhavan in Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Majhi described Ahilyabai as “not just a ruler, but a beacon of justice, courage, and social service.” He emphasized that her life is a timeless inspiration and a guiding light for governance in modern Odisha.

“Ahilyabai’s dedication to her people and her commitment to justice, education, and equality serve as a model for us today. Just like her, we are working to ensure social welfare, especially for women,” said the Chief Minister, underlining that her legacy is reflected in Odisha’s landmark initiatives like the Subhadra Yojana, which aims to make mothers economically and socially self-reliant.
