1,29,070 hectares targeted for Kharif paddy cultivation in Cuttack District

FOR the 2025 Kharif season, a total of 1,29,070 hectares of land has been earmarked for paddy cultivation in Cuttack district. Additionally, 940 hectares have been targeted for maize and 1,120 hectares for millet, pearl millet, and barley cultivation. This was informed by Chief District Agriculture Officer Rajashree Behera during the Kharif Crop Policy Formulation Committee meeting held on Tuesday.

1,29,070 hectares targeted for Kharif paddy cultivation in Cuttack District

In terms of other crops, 6,950 hectares have been designated for pulses, 1,920 hectares for oilseeds, 630 hectares for jute, 29,600 hectares for vegetables, 3,640 hectares for spices, and 2,440 hectares for sugarcane cultivation.

Behera assured that there is an adequate stock of seeds available for paddy cultivation this season. She also mentioned that to mitigate risks arising from natural calamities or unforeseen events, Kharif crop culti-vation in the district has been brought under coverage of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
