Trending PBA numbers

The comparison may be like apples and oranges but still, the increase in the PBA’s net revenues from Season 48 to 49 was a strong indication of solid growth.

In Season 48, the PBA staged only two conferences - Commissioner's and Philippine Cups ~ as the league made way for the SEA Games, FIBA World Cup and Asian Games. In Season 49, it was back to the traditional three-conference format starting with the Governors’ Cup then Commissioner's Cup and finally, Philippine Cup.

Net revenues for Season 48 amounted to about P114 million, a drop from the previous all-time record of P200 million from three conferences highlighted by Barangay Ginebra’s seven-game finals win over Bay Area in the Commissioner’s Cup. In Season 49, net revenues went up to P193 million, short of the all-time record. The jump from Season 48 to 49 was a whopping 69.3 percent. In terms of gross revenues, the increase was over 20 percent.
