Social good collaboration bridges the divide, one school building at a time

In classrooms across the country, students now sit on sturdy wood and steel chairs under steady wall fans, facing panoramic whiteboards that have replaced old, crumbling chalkboards.

With their old classrooms worsened by recent earthquakes in the Davao region, Suaybaguio-Riña Elementary School gains a fresh start through a new SM School Building, giving students a safer, more comfortable place to learn. Rooted in a tight-knit community, Bayanan II Elementary School diligently maintains its building to ensure it continues to serve learners for generations. With its new school building, Jefmin Elementary School creates more opportunities for its learners. One classroom will soon become a DigiHub, boosting students' digital skills and strengthening their campus journalism initiatives.

This improved learning space reflects the long-running partnership of SM Foundation, SM Prime, and the Department of Education, a collaboration that has delivered more than 110 school buildings since 2002.

The effort supports DepEd in easing the classroom backlog that continues to affect the learning experience of Filipino youth.
