The legal team of Vice President Sara Duterte is ready "for any eventuality" or for whatever is decided by the Supreme Court on the motion for reconsideration on an earlier ruling declaring her impeachment case unconstitutional.

Michael Poa, a spokesman for the Vice President and member of her 16-man legal team, made this clear in an interview with dzMM.

"As of now, we, in the defense team, our focus now is to comment on the motion for reconsideration filed by the other side, of the House of Representatives and definitely we intend to submit our comment as ordered by the SC within the 10-day period provided," Poa said. "The last day, based on our count, is on Friday, this coming Friday. So, definitely on or before Friday, we will submit our comment," he added.

"If in case it will be reversed, and I don't want to say it will be reversed or not because that's purely speculative on our part, but if in case it will be reversed, for example, I'm sure on the reversal, there is also a ruling on what should happen in the impeachment complaint," he said.

"If it is revived in the Senate, I'm sure there will be guidelines to be issued. So let's just wait for the result of the motion for consideration," Poa maintained.

He also stressed the defense team does not consider the archiving of the impeachment case as vindication, saying it needs to prepare for other pending cases against the Vice President.

"Actually, it is not yet (a sigh of relief) as we still have other work. We still need to comment and then aside from that, the Vice President is not only facing an impeachment. There are other cases filed against her," he said.

He said she is also facing charges before the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman.

"So, our work does not stop but again, I'd like to say definitely the defense team is ready for any eventuality," Poa added.
