'Sana all'

Without any doubt, the decision of President Bongbong Marcos to ask for the courtesy resignations of all his Cabinet members drew positive and favorable reactions even from his critics.

But as one pundit put it: the action looked like the President was blaming his Cabinet secretaries for the political disaster caused by PBBM's bad political judgment.

Yes, many NPAs or Non-Performing Appointees caused a lot of dissatisfaction and damage to the administration but by and large, the biggest blunder was picking a fight with VP Sara, disregarding the fallout from the "illegal" delivery of President Rodrigo Duterte to the ICC and PBBM assuming his political machinery could still take the Visayas and Mindanao.

I suppose the President had to start somewhere, so he asked for the courtesy resignations. However, once the dust settled from the whirlwind, many people said: "Sana all." PBBM might be puzzled by the expression "sana all," so let me clarify.

Asking for the courtesy resignation of his Cabinet was good as a humble response to "his" loss in the midterm elections. But in order for the resignations to be thorough and effective, people believe this must extend to other government officials.

PBBM should also ask all political appointees such as undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, directors, commissioners as well as government corporate chairmen. If one is to clean house it must be thorough. It is not a declaration of all positions as vacant, but it entails a complete review of those appointees, many of whom were nominated or placed by politicians and Kamag Anak Inc.
