PSEi recovers, peso rallies back to 58-level
The Philippine Star
|November 18, 2025
Bargain hunters came to the local bourse’s rescue yesterday following last Friday’s massive selloff, while the peso bounced back to the 58-level against the dollar amid improved market sentiment and easing political concerns.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) climbed by 3.49 percent or 194.77 points to finish yesterday's session at 5,779.12 after crashing to a fresh five-year low last Friday.
The broader All Shares index also closed in positive territory, adding 0.63 percent or 20.54 points to end at 3,280.80.
“The PSEi ended higher as the market took advantage of last Friday’s steep decline to buy stocks at a bargain,” Luis Limlingan of Regina Capital said.

Filipino tech is a matter of survival
I write this as someone who has lived the difficult journey of building local technology in a country where foreign companies often dominate the landscape. I have seen how global platforms can shape entire industries and control who rises and who falls. I have seen how digital systems created elsewhere can decide prices, dictate terms and define the rules of competition even on our own soil. And I have seen how much harder it is for Filipino entrepreneurs to grow when the playing field is tilted toward giants with endless capital and virtually unlimited reach.
