PNP Admits Recalling Officers From Bato's Security

After days of keeping quiet, the Philippine National Police has finally admitted that it recalled two PNP officers from Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa's security detail.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo yesterday explained that the recall of the officers stationed at Dela Rosa's residence in Davao was in compliance with Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution 11067.

This resolution automatically revokes the authority granting security personnel or bodyguards at the start of the election period.

But contrary to claims that the removal of the two officers was recent, Fajardo clarified that they were recalled in January.

Fajardo also pointed out that what Dela Rosa failed to mention was that he still has four police officers assigned to his security detail.

These officers have been granted certificates of exemption by the Comelec, allowing them to continue providing security until June 11.
