Marcos Thanks US for Defense Upgrade Support

President Marcos yesterday thanked the US for supporting the Philippines' efforts to upgrade its defense capabilities as he expressed readiness to boost ties with Washington in the face of what he called an evolving global environment.
"Things are continuing to evolve; it's probably the good way to put it, a harmless way to put it," Marcos said during the courtesy call of the US Senate Armed Services Committee congressional delegates at Malacañang.
"We are greatly appreciative of all the support that the United States has given us in the face of all the challenges that we in the Philippines are facing and the continuing support that you have given us with regard to the modernization of our armed forces, as part of our response to those challenges that we are facing," he added.
Marcos said the Philippines is "very willing" and "very open" to any proposal, suggestion, or idea by the US lawmakers that could improve its situation.
