Marcos Lauds Eala: The Fight Continues, Alex!

Despite her loss to Australian Maya Joint in the 2025 Eastbourne Open final, Filipino tennis star Alex Eala drew praises from President Marcos who lauded her for making history and for making her countrymen proud.
"The fight continues, Alex!" the President said in a Facebook post on Saturday night.
"We all watched you make history as the first Filipino to reach a WTA (World Tennis Association) 250 singles final. That alone is already a victory for our country and for the millions of Filipinos who stand proudly behind you," he added.
The 20-year-old Eala finished her historic campaign in the tournament after bowing to Joint, 4-6, 6-1, 6-7 (10-12), last Saturday in England.
"You've made us all proud! Keep going, your best is yet to come," the President said.
The victory gave Joint her second WTA singles title.
Eala is now gearing up for her debut in the prestigious Wimbledon Championships in London that starts this week.
