MAKI TAKES ON THE 'RIDE OF HIS LIFE'
The Philippine Star
|November 01, 2025
Maki treated his fans by taking them on various rides at Star City to celebrate the release of his debut album, “KOLORCOASTER.”
Each track from the album was paired with a ride inside the amusement park. The tour started at the Bumper Car Smash for Namumula, Wacky Worm for kahel na langit, Giant Star Wheel for Dilaw, Star Frisbee for turning green, Jungle Splash for Bughaw, Star Flyer for INDIGO, Seahorse Viking for Nangungulila, Space Cat Wellness for itim na ulap, Tornado Ride for ROYGBIV and ended at the event area for Abelyana.
“KOLORCOASTER” was written by Maki himself and was produced by Shadiel Chan, Jovel Rivera and Nhiko Sabiniano, with the help of Jacob Clemente and Tati de Mesa.
Interestingly, the Kapamilya singer-songwriter revealed in an interview that he's actually afraid of amusement park rides — a fun contrast to the theme of his album celebration.
"But for me, this theme park, I’ve always enjoyed doing it (because of) the colors that we see and the happy faces of the people. I’m happy that I tried the rides, almost. Hindi lang kaya ng tiyan ko, but (I did it)."
Nonetheless, the making of the album itself was what Maki considered as the “greatest ride of his life.” He told The STAR, “It is an album full of sulat lang ng sulat, release, sulat, release. And to give justice to each song of a concept album is really challenging. It really is.”
