Sectors that saw the biggest month-on-month increases in employment in March were administrative and support service activities (182,000), education (157,000), manufacturing (115,000), information and communication (100,000), as well as accommodation and food service activities (98,000).

On the other hand, those with the largest month-on-month declines were construction (-473,000), wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (-439,000), other service activities (-290,000), fishing and aquaculture (-285,000) and public administration and defense; compulsory social security (-158,000).

The labor force participation rate declined to 62.9 percent in March this year from 64.5 percent in the previous month and 65.3 percent in the same month last year.

An estimated 49.96 million Filipinos were in the labor force in March this year, down from the previous month's 51.09 million and 51.15 million in March 2024.
