Infra spending hits P620 B in H1

Government spending on infrastructure and other capital outlays in the first half rose slightly as the Marcos administration ramped up disbursements following a slowdown in May due to the election ban that earlier restrained expenditures.
Based on the latest national government disbursement performance report of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), infrastructure spending from January to June amounted to P620.2 billion, up by 1.4 percent from P611.8 billion in the same period last year.
Data showed that spending declined by 9.3 percent in the second quarter due to the election ban, offsetting gains from the first quarter when expenditures surged by nearly 21 percent year-on-year.
