HONORING LOLO: A gift rooted in love and family
The Philippine Star
|December 07, 2025
Kriz Angelica Guimbal's heartfelt Christmas surprise for her Lolo Vic became a moving reminder that the greatest gifts are those given in gratitude.
Honoring our family has always come naturally to Filipinos.
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, Christmas becomes even more special as we take the opportunity to give back to our loved ones.
That's exactly what Kriz Angelica Guimbal did for her lolo (grandfather). As a certified Lolo's girl, she went all out preparing a special Christmas gift for Tatay Vic.
During their Noche Buena last year, Guimbal handed him a white paper bag containing a polo shirt. Little did she know, her sweet gesture would bring tears to Tatay Vic's eyes.
"My lolo and lola po ang nagpalaki sa amin. Pangarap niya po ang Giordano na polo shirt. Kaya naisipan ko na kahit sana minsan, lalo Pasko, mapa-experience ko 'yung bagay na pangarap niya lang noon," she told The Philippine STAR.
Tatay Vic was in awe upon receiving a gift from his apo (grandchild). But beyond the material item, it was Guimbal's sincere and heartwarming message that tugged at his heartstrings.
"Tay, salamat sa lahat ng tulong ninyo sa amin ni Nanay! Babawi po ako sa lahat. I love you, Tay! Ingatan mo health mo! More power sa business mo," Guimbal wrote in the letter.
