Higher fees slash MacroAsia profit

Aviation service provider MacroAsia Corp. felt the pang of costlier rates charged at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as its profit dipped by two percent in the first half.
Latest financial report showed that MacroAsia's net income slipped to P679.7 million in the first semester, from P691.6 million a year ago, due to flattish growth and higher costs.
Revenue stood flat at P4.81 billion, while expenses rose by eight percent to P3.74 billion, which MacroAsia blamed on higher rates charged by the new management in NAIA.
MacroAsia owns 49 percent of Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP), which is working on its lease renewal in NAIA. LTP's 25-year lease is nearing expiry this year and will be slapped with higher rates under a privately run NAIA.
