Hidilyn far from finished

The Philippine Star

|

November 25, 2025

Four-time Olympian Hidilyn Diaz isn’t about to rest on her laurels and ride into the sunset. She’s gearing up to add another medal to her bulging collection at the coming Bangkok SEA Games. Hidilyn, 34, won golds at the 2019 and 2021 SEA Games, both at 55kg, then skipped the 2023 edition but now, she’s hankering for one more.

Hidilyn is entered in the women’s 58kg division, the same class where she failed to land a podium finish at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. She dropped to 53kg to claim silver in 2016 then moved up to 55kg to clinch gold in 2020. It'll be a challenge for Hidilyn to lift for gold in Bangkok as she has never bagged a medal beyond 55kg at the Olympic, World, Asian and SEA senior levels.
