DepEd thanks House for add'l P26.517-B budget

The Department of Education (DepEd) yesterday thanked the House for approving an additional P26.517 billion to its proposed 2026 budget of P928.52 billion.
Of the amount, P22.5 billion will be allocated for basic education facilities, accelerating the construction and rehabilitation of classrooms and procurement of school furniture.
The school-based feeding program will receive an additional P1.88 billion, on top of the P11.8 billion in the proposed budget.
The alternative learning system and flexible learning program received an additional P306 million, followed by the special needs education program (P193 million), indigenous peoples education program (P79.6 million) and the Madrasah education program (P26.25 million).
About P579.5 million will go to the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning program for the overload pay of public school teachers.
