Following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Cebu, what began as scenes of devastation has transformed into a story of renewal and innovation.
-

Families who once took shelter in makeshift tents are now finding safety and dignity in the first-ever "Bayanihan Village" communities built from Modular Shelter Units (MSUs), a first in the country's disaster response history.
These shelters, completed in just a few days, stand as symbols of a Bagong Pilipinas that acts quickly and restores not just homes, but hope and dignity.
The President on the ground When President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived at the Bayanihan Village in Barangay Poblacion, San Remigio-the epicenter of the government's relief operations he found an entire village rebuilt from the ground up in just seven days.
The site, composed of 45 modular shelters, was filled with stories of resilience. Children played outside, families cleaned new living spaces, and volunteers continued assisting those who had lost everything.
"I'm happy to report na mayroon na talaga lahat everybody, lahat ng nasiraan ng bahay ay mayroon ng tinitirahan kahit na tent lang muna... pinapalitan na natin 'yung tent at nilalagay na natin 'yung mas maganda, mas matibay na housing...modular shelter na ating bagong binibigay pagka nagkakaganito," the President said during his visit.
