28 Areas With 'Danger' Heat Index on Election Day

Some 28 areas in the country were expected to experience the "danger" heat index, from 42 degrees to 45 degrees Celsius, as warm and humid weather prevailed during the midterm elections yesterday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The state agency said the highest heat index was forecast in Sangley Point, Cavite City and Catarman, Northern Samar with 45 degrees Celsius.
The heat index in Echague, Isabela; San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Tayabas, Quezon; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; Legazpi City, Albay; Juban, Sorsogon; Pili, Camarines Sur; Roxas City, Mambusao, Capiz; Dumangas, Iloilo and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte was expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, a 42 degrees Celsius heat index was expected in Metro Manila; Laoag, Ilocos Norte; Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Bacnotan, La Union; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Subic Bay, Olongapo City; Infanta, Quezon; Coron, Palawan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa and Cuyo, Palawan; Masbate City, Masbate; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Guiuan, Eastern Samar and Maasin, Southern Leyte.
LPA dissipating Meanwhile, a low-pressure area (LPA) located off the coastal waters of Palay, Negros Occidental is expected to dissipate, PAGASA said.
As of 3 p.m. yesterday, the LPA was still being monitored, but showed a very low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
