Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit president Manish Sahni has called for the immediate end of Urdu's compulsory use in government jobs and official proceedings, citing it as a barrier to accessibility for the common people.
Speaking at a press conference at the party's state central office, Sahni criticized the continued dominance of Urdu in government departments, particularly in the revenue and police sectors. He pointed out that Urdu, despite being one of the five official languages of Jammu and Kashmir, is not the mother tongue of any major demographic group in the region.
